Besides the opportunity to promote the cultural identity of peoples, globalization brings negative impacts on traditional values as well as increases the foreignness in cultural activities and services. The 2005 Convention has become the inspiration and legal basis for promulgating legal regulations and policies to protect and promote diversity in cultural expression.

Vietnam is one of the countries making efforts to participate in the drafting and early ratification process of the Convention. Especially, after ratifying the convention, Vietnam was elected and successfully assumed the role of Vice Chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee and Vice President of the General Assembly of the UNESCO Convention (2011-2015). Vietnam is also assessed as a responsible member of UNESCO and has made practical contributions to the organization's work.
Accordingly, Vietnam will continue to make outstanding contributions to the joint efforts of the international community in protecting and promoting the diversity of cultural expressions. Vietnam and Bangladesh are two representatives of the Asia-Pacific region who have just been elected to the Intergovernmental Committee of the Convention to Protect and Promote the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Convention 2005) for the term 2021- 2025.

With the existing traditional cultural values and the spirit of readiness to integrate and absorb the quintessence of human values, the 2005 Convention is a solid premise for the protection and development of cultural products of Vietnam. The things set out in the Convention are no longer regulations and legal bases, but also close to each person's responsibility with enthusiasm and talent for creating genuine artistic values, with good cultural values. beautiful long tradition.
