Discover Bau Sau (Cat Tien National Park) - The heart of the forest

Bau Sau is located in the south of Cat Tien National Park, in Tan Phu district, Dong Nai province. About 165 km from Ho Chi Minh City, is the only freshwater crocodile farming biosphere in Vietnam, also known as Siamese crocodile, one of the endemic crocodile species of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.

Bau Sau ramsar area is not only the home of crocodiles but also contains many species of animals and plants listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world. Like many other endemic areas of Cat Tien National Park, Bau Sau is in the conservation area, so it is managed and monitored very closely. Bau Sau ramsar site covers an area of 13,759ha, including 5,360ha of seasonal wetlands and 151ha of permanent wetlands. Surrounded by forests, there are many deep flooded areas. The flora and fauna are extremely diverse: Phytoplankton: including 250 species belonging to 7 phylums of algae; Vegetation: Including terrestrial plants, aquatic plants are quite abundant with 127 species belonging to 55 families.

From the starting point which is the administrative and service center of Cat Tien National Park to Bau Sau, visitors will experience a journey of about 14km. In which, the first 9km, visitors will travel by specialized vehicles to visit many interesting destinations, then continue to walk through the forest on a unique trail about 5km more. On this journey, visitors will be directly recorded, photographed, and collected information about precious trees, fungi, vines... characteristic of vegetation in Cat Tien National Park.

For many years, Cat Tien National Park in general and Bau Sau Ramsar Site in particular have been exploiting the potential for tourism development. Bau Sau is not only a wetland with a rich flora, but also one of the few places that still preserves the relics of the Oc Eo culture. At the same time, the unique customs, traditions and traditional festivals of the S'tieng and Chau Ma ethnic groups living in the NP and surrounding areas also become advantages for exploitation and development. type of ecotourism.
