Potential for developing eco-tourism in the Southeast region

In 7 tourist regions of Vietnam, the Southeast tourism region includes 6 provinces and cities, namely: Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces: Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, West Ning. This is a dynamic economic development region, leading in the industrialization and modernization of the country. The Southeast region is a convergence of diverse tourism resources with the advantage of forests, seas, rivers and lakes; system of cultural, historical relics and craft villages to develop many types of source tourism, eco-tourism, resort tourism, sea tourism, etc.

The Southeast region is favored by nature in terms of gas, with many large lakes and diverse forest ecosystems favorable for tourism development; ecotourism resources associated with the national park, biosphere reserve, conservation area, and mangrove forests such as: Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve, Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve have been established. recognized by UNESCO; National Park system: Nam Cat Tien (Dong Nai), Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Bu Gia Map (Binh Phuoc), Lo Go - Xa Mat (Tay Ninh); Tourism resources associated with mountain landscapes are significant for tourism development such as: Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh) is also recognized as a complex of historical, cultural and scenic relics of Ba Mountain and Nui Ba. Ra (Binh Phuoc), Dinh Mountain (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Chua Chan Mountain (Dong Nai); natural tourism resources associated with landscape, river and lake ecosystems such as: Saigon river, Vam Co Dong river, Dong Nai river; Dau Tieng lake; Tri An Lake (Dong Nai); Thac Mo Lake (Binh Phuoc).

With this diversity, ecotourism products in the Southeast can meet the different needs of many tourist segments depending on their preferences, time and spending level for each trip. Therefore, in order for the tourism industry of each locality as well as the entire Southeast region to develop sustainably on the basis of exploiting its own inherent strengths, notably the potential of ecotourism, it is necessary to have solutions. Synchronous methods, from the discovery and conservation of tourism resources to the coordination and exploitation in a more methodical and reasonable manner in the coming time.
