New ordinary passports are printed with typical landscapes, images of national sovereignty and famous cultural heritages of Vietnam. Compared to the old model, the new ordinary passport model has many improvements, the new passport model is elaborately designed, on each page are typical images of landscapes, images of national sovereignty, famous cultural heritages. The famous names of the country such as: Ha Long Bay, Hue Imperial City, Hung Temple, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, Nha Rong Wharf, Lung Cu Flagpole, To Vo Gate - Ly Son Island... define and promote Vietnamese images to the world, showing Vietnamese traditions, history, geography and culture. Moreover, the new ordinary passport model ensures security techniques and is difficult to counterfeit.

Citizens who have been issued with the old model passport before July 1, 2022 will continue to use it until the expiry date stated in the passport. Old model passports issued after July 1, 2022 will not be valid.
To avoid waiting time for citizens, the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security encourages citizens to proactively declare the passport application form through the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security: https://dichvucong.bocongan .gov.vn saves time and costs for citizens without having to go directly to the immigration office to queue up to submit declarations and take photos.

To apply for an Ordinary Passport, citizens access the online Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security, log in, fill out the passport application information, email address, upload a portrait photo (for printing on the website). Passport), choose the form of receiving the Passport (via postal service or go to the immigration office to receive it directly), the address to receive the Passport, pay the fee online when sent by the application-receiving officer request.
In case citizens are not eligible to use level 4 public services or wish to apply directly, the current process of registration, receipt and processing of passport applications will be applied.
